Merikarvia is
situated close to the sea in, about 45 km up the

Old family farm of Sirkkaliisa and Markku Koivuniemi
specialises in arranging country holidays for
families with children among river, field and
forest scenery. In this peasant style yard milieu
there is a place to do things which is `more country
than town´ (from “a home pig to a silky chinchilla
and living garter”, and from hay jumping to oats
swimming and a tractor – ride ).
Children can participate in
animal care, e.g. milking, caring for chickens,
grooming horses. Many arranged programmes included
in holiday, e.g. river trips and traditional crafts
and skills. You can choose between half-board
and bed and breakfast in different kind of cottages,
or camp on the farm or just visit the domestic
animal park.

“From a domestic pig to a
silky chinchilla and living garter-snake”
There is rural activity-place
for children in the pleasant farm yard. Everything
from a home pig to a silky chinchilla and living
garter, and from hay-jumping to oats-swimming
and an excursion on tractor. Children can participate
in animal care, e.g. milking, caring for chickens,
grooming the horses.
On the farm there are about 25 different species,
e.g. sheep, goats, small piglets, horses, chicken
and also some exotic animals like turtles and
garter snakes. You may milk the goats or the cow
Åxa, fetch eggs, feed the animals and ride the
horses.
Different kinds of activities
are arranged on and outside the farm and the program
varies daily. The farm has several saunas: a smoke
sauna, earth smoke sauna, gnome sauna, electric
sauna and tent sauna. Guests have free use of
e.g. canoes and rowing boats, as well as games
and recreation rooms. Horse riding, with instructor,
for extra charge.
Local food forms an important
food for a holiday, as also for the Merikarvia
theme. Meals are served in the living room of
the old main building and MuuMaa café You can
stay over night or spend your holiday.
